Matthew Cunningham Memorial Scholarship Fund

Please join me in congratulating Jordyn Slater, the 2025 recipient of the Matthew Cunningham Memorial Scholarship! Jordyn is a 2025 graduate of Butler Area High School and will be attending West Virginia University majoring in Chemical Engineering.

Jordyn grew up in Butler, PA and spent her childhood camping and enjoying the outdoors. After her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, she became interested in finding ways to protect humans and the environment from pollutants. As a chemical engineering major, she is committed to finding sustainable solutions by developing cleaner technologies that improve the recyclability of materials, with a focus on polymers.

Best of luck to Jordyn in her future endeavors!  Her future in sustainability is bright.
