Matthew Cunningham Memorial Scholarship Fund

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Maxine Burger, the 2023 winner of the Matthew Cunningham Memorial Scholarship. Maxine graduated from Butler High School in 2023.  In high school she was a member of the Environmental Club. Maxine is currently finishing up her freshman year at the University of Pittsburgh. She has a strong interest in the relationship between environmental science and human health and well being. She’s passionate about one day being able to help humans adapt to climate driven disasters such as floods, fires, droughts, and pandemics. She’s currently a member of the Outdoors Club at Pitt.

She told me that the scholarship has helped her pay for tuition and be able to work towards her aspirations while worrying less about finances. 

Congratulations to Maxine and best of luck in her future endeavors!  Her future in sustainability is bright.
